Welcome to Mason Holdings' WOrld

Mason Holdings creates intimate, experiential theatre inspired by the unseen and unheard.

Small Acts of Daring Invention, inspired by the life and work of Dare Wright, author of the children’s book series The Lonely Doll, is an image-rich, musically driven exploration of the space between this life and the next. The play teases the realness of the unreal and investigates the endless resources of the imaginative realm. With one actress and five puppeteers, Small Acts lives in an expansive world where the child and adult consciousness coexist. The play asks: How do we bury and resurrect the past? Where does our soul find its home? How do we confront reality and dare to invent our own? On a journey delicate, dangerous, playful, and dark, transcendence is the final destination.

Hart Island is a good theatrical multimedia meditation on New York City’s Potter’s Field and the humans connected to it, living and dead. It weaves together the voices of the friends and family of Hart Island’s deceased, Rikers Island inmates and gravediggers, and fictional documentary narration.

A Mason Holdings immersive theatrical experience, celebrating the artwork of Mikel Glass, and in partnership with Nancy Manocherian’s the cell.

“Come, take a teacup, tap a rusty muffler, taste a mysterious brew!
Gaze up into the cosmos, and watch your crayons melt.
Climb the stairs, hold the railing, meet the doll, who is the child, who is also maybe you.
Find the trash that is your treasure, in the playground you once knew.”

Inspired by the true story of Elena Hoyos and Carl Von Cosel, five disparate but intertwining couples fly through time and space to ponder the disease of love. An intimate, experiential and immersive work that will play for an audience of just thirty people per performance.
